With summer fast approaching, we’re looking forward to some amazing film releases and (fingers crossed!) some amazing weather to match.
We’ve teamed up with Swedish Glace to offer you some wholesome summer treats when visiting our cinemas over the next few months.
Swedish Glace make ice cream that is vegan, dairy free and gluten free. Like us, they are big film fans. They feel film can open our minds to different ways of thinking and help us become kinder, more tolerant and accepting. Something essential that they feel is missing from the world today.
Look out for free samples across the summer, we hope you get the chance to try some Swedish Glace when you’re next in one of our cinemas.
Swedish Glace. Essential Kindness in a World Less Tolerant.
Swedish Glace believe in the power of films to promote tolerance and kindness. Here are some upcoming releases they think do just that:
Machines (12a) – Friday 19 May
Director: Rahul Jain. India/Germany/Finland 2016. 71 mins. Hindi with English subtitles and English.
Machines is an immersive, mesmerising portrait of the rhythm of life and work in a gigantic textile factory in Gujarat, India. Using strong visual language, memorable images and carefully selected interviews with the workers themselves, director Rahul Jain tells a story of inequality and oppression, humans and machines.
The Other Side of Hope (12a) – Friday 26 May
Director: Aki Kaurismäki. Finland/Germany 2017. TBC mins. Finnish/Swedish/Arabic with English subtitles.
The Other Side Of Hope sensitively weaves together the experiences of two men who flee their homes and form an unlikely friendship: a Syrian refugee who arrives in Helsinki as a stowaway on a coal freighter, and a spiky Finnish travelling salesman.
The Red Turtle (PG) – Friday 26 May
Director: Michaël Dudok De Wit. France/Belgium/Japan 2015. 81 mins.
The life of a castaway on a deserted island is changed forever by the arrival of a red turtle. The Red Turtle is a magical, moving and dialogue-free fable from Oscar-winning animator Michaël Dudok de Wit.
