Writing a book is one thing, adapting it for screen is a whole other level. Something of a rarity, Emma Jane Unsworth has been faced with that very task as her 2015 book Animals is about to become a major motion picture in cinemas nationwide from 2 August.
Emma is an experienced, well-loved journalist and writer whose bylines include Guardian, Grazia and The Big Issue. Her novel Animals (Canongate) won a Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize 2015 and her next novel, Adults, will be published by The Borough Press/HarperCollins in February 2020.
Join us at West Norwood Library and Cinema as Emma discusses her journey from page to picture with a very special guest host on Sunday 4 August at 6pm.
Animals is the anticipated new comedy directed by Sophie Hyde starring Alia Shawkat and Holliday Grainger as 30-something friends nearing the end of the hedonistic party train. Riotously hilarious and very close to the bone for any woman who’s woken up with a hangover and a smile, Animals is a modern-day tale on the alchemy of female friendship.
