Experience an unsettling yet eerily familiar world at Casper Scarth’s exhibition Holding the Line, currently on display at the Hackney Picturehouse Gallery.
New drawings hang alongside surreal paintings which reflect public spaces transformed into artificial wastelands.
Over the past 15 years, Scarth has taken inspiration from exploring the streets of East London – London Fields, Victoria Park, Lea Valley and Hackney Wick. He responds to his sources with an eclectic homage to a much-loved area where urban dynamics, social change, and regeneration are forever on the move.
Casper was recently shortlisted and on tour with the Derwent Art Prize, his future exhibitions include a solo show at the White Box, Blackheath in February 2020.
The exhibition runs 3 – 29 March 2019.
