Alice of Wonderland fame will forever be the pin up for those who dare to dream. A national treasure, Lewis Carroll’s classic is both your worst nightmare and most exciting fantasy, and has inspired countless reimaginings.
Christopher Wheeldon’s exuberant ballet rendition is now rooted as a staple in the Royal Opera House roster. Since its premiere in 2011, audiences have been bewitched by its enchanting performances including a parody of The Sleeping Beauty’s famous Rose Adage, a tap-dancing mad hatter and a caterpillar with its multiple legs en pointe.
Joby Talbot’s score combines contemporary soundscapes with sublime melodies harking back to scores of the nineteenth century. Bob Crowley’s wildly imaginative, dazzling designs draw on puppetry and projection to make Wonderland pop with wit and magic.
This October the original cast takes to the screen in this madcap adaptation. Exuding girlish charm, Lauren Cuthbertson stars as Alice, joined by Edward Watson as the White Rabbit, Steven McRae as the Mad Hatter and Zenaida Yanowsky as the ferocious Queen of Hearts.
The production will reach Picturehouse cinemas live on Monday 23 October at 7.15. Don’t be late for this very important date…Book now
