About The Golden Spurtle

Each year, the charming highland village of Carrbridge awakens with excitement as locals and competitors from around the globe vie for the honour of winning The Golden Spurtle in the World Porridge Making Championships. Lifelong porridge committee members dedicated to preserving the future of the championships and their own oat-based legacies come up against a new generation of spurtlers, who, armed with new ideas and recipes, want to challenge the porridge status quo.

Set against the backdrop of the breathtaking Scottish Highlands and infused with whimsical humour of an eclectic cast, The Golden Spurtle captures the humanity of village life and those who visit with spurtle in hand - "as wholesome and nourishing as its oat-stirring subjects." (Guardian)

How to Enter

For a chance to win, simply email [email protected] with THE GOLDEN SPURTLE  in the subject line with your booking reference (or a photo of your paper ticket) for your ticket(s) for The Golden Spurtle at any Picturehouse Cinema.

The competition closes on Sunday 05 October, and the winner will be contacted via email before Tuesday 07 October. The winner will need to reply and claim their prize before Friday 10 October.

PICTUREHOUSE TERMS & CONDITIONS

• Open to UK residents only. Entrants must be at least 18 years old. The winners will be picked at random and contacted via their method of entry. Our standard Picturehouse competition terms and conditions apply.


• One winner will receive a year-long regular Membership for their local Picturehouse Cinema, to be arranged on contact by email. 

CARRBRIDGE HOTEL TERMS & CONDITIONS

• One winner will receive a night's 'Bread & Breakfast' stay for two at the Carrbridge Hotel (Main Street, Carrbridge, PH23 3AB)


• Prize winner must book in advance, offer not available during Hotel Events, Christmas or Hogmanay.

CALEDONIAN SLEEPER TERMS & CONDITIONS

The prize for travel on the Caledonian Sleeper service:

(a) is provided by Caledonian Sleeper Limited, 1-5 Union Street, Inverness, IV1 1PP; (b) is subject to availability;

(b) is for return travel for 2 people onboard the Caledonian Sleeper across all routes in a Club Ensuite room valid from 1st September 2025 – 21st June 2026. With return travel on or before the 21st June 2026.

(c). Caledonian Sleeper does not accept any responsibility, and will not provide any cash or other alternative, if you are not able to book or use or take up the Prize;

(d) is subject to the Caledonian Sleeper Limited terms and conditions, Passenger Charter and the National Rail Conditions of Carriage (together the "Guest Terms"), which can be found on our website;

(e) is not transferrable to anyone other than the prize winner, and cannot be used on rail services provided by other train operators; and

(f) Caledonian Sleeper reserves the right to replace any of the Prizes with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond Caledonian Sleeper's control make it necessary to do so.

(g) The Prize is not negotiable or transferable and there is no cash alternative available.

(h) Caledonian Sleeper does not accept any responsibility for inaccurate prize details being supplied by the Supplier or any other third party connected with the prize draw.
